How we collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information, and what you can do about it.

Who we are

We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. As a registered tax agent we handle tax file numbers, which are also governed by the Privacy (Tax File Number) Rule 2015.
What we collect
If you are a client or are becoming one: your name, contact details, date of birth, tax file number, ABN, bank account details, income and expense records, financial statements, employment and payroll information, superannuation details, identification documents, and information about your business, its structure and its associates. Where you have a spouse or business partners we may hold information about them too, because it affects your position.
If you just use this website: your IP address, browser and device, the pages you visit, how you arrived, and anything you type into a form or booking. We describe the tracking specifically further down, because we think you should be able to see exactly what runs.
You do not have to identify yourself to browse this site. You do have to identify yourself for us to act as your tax agent, because the law requires it.
Why we collect it
- To do the work. Preparing and lodging returns and activity statements, accounts, advice, bookkeeping and everything else you engage us for.
- Because the law requires it. Tax agent obligations, anti money laundering and identity verification, and record keeping under the tax law.
- To communicate with you about your work, deadlines and anything that affects you.
- To improve the site and our services, using aggregated analytics rather than anything that identifies you individually.
- To send you things you have asked for, such as our newsletter. You can unsubscribe from any of it at any time and it will not affect your engagement.
Tax file numbers
Your TFN gets stricter treatment than the rest of your information. We collect it only where the law authorises it, use it only for tax related purposes, never use it to identify you in our own systems, and never disclose it except to the ATO or where you have authorised us or the law requires it. We do not ask for it by email, and we would rather you did not send it that way either.
Who we share it with
We disclose your information only where we need to, and only to:
- The Australian Taxation Office and other government agencies where required.
- Software providers who hold data on our behalf, principally our accounting, document and practice management systems.
- Other advisers you have asked us to deal with, such as your lawyer, banker, broker or financial adviser.
- Contracted service providers, some of whom are located outside Australia. Where that happens we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, and the arrangements are set out in our Terms, Conditions and Policies.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not disclose it for anyone else’s marketing.

We would rather list what actually runs than describe it vaguely. As at 30 August 2026 this site uses:

Cookies, and how to say no
Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. Some are needed for the site to work. The rest are the analytics and advertising ones above.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site will still work. You can also opt out specifically:
- Google Analytics opt out, opens in a new tab
- Meta ad preferences, opens in a new tab
- Unsubscribe from any newsletter using the link at the bottom of it.
We do not use any of this to make automated decisions about you, and none of it is connected to your client file.
How we keep it safe
Your information is held in access controlled systems with multi factor authentication, and only the people who need it can see it. Paper records are held securely at our office. We keep records for as long as the tax law and our professional obligations require, and dispose of them securely after that.
No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a data breach happens that is likely to cause you serious harm, we are required to notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme, and we will.
Seeing your information, and correcting it
You can ask us what we hold about you and we will tell you, normally within 30 days and at no cost. If something is wrong, tell us and we will fix it.
There are narrow circumstances where the law allows us to refuse access, such as where it would unreasonably affect someone else’s privacy. If we refuse we will explain why in writing and tell you what you can do about it.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information
Tell us first. Contact us on 02 6041 1687 or in writing, and we will acknowledge it and respond within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can take it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au, opens in a new tab or on 1300 363 992. Complaints about our conduct as a registered tax agent can also go to the Tax Practitioners Board, opens in a new tab.
Changes to this policy
