We are not the cheapest, and we are not trying to be

There is always someone who will lodge it for less. What you get for the difference is somebody who rings you in March instead of October, answers the phone, and tells you what the number means while you can still do something about it.

What most clients pay

Business clients start from $1,500 a year. Most small and medium businesses land between $2,500 and $5,000. Larger groups, or anything with several entities in it, go above that and we will say so early rather than at the end.

That covers the year end accounts and returns, reconciling the BAS you have already lodged, and the planning meeting in March while there is still a quarter left to act. If you want us preparing and lodging the BAS as well, that sits on top. Where you sit inside it depends on the things further down this page. If you want the number for your situation, ask and we will quote it.

Built around you

We put a package together to suit you

Some people want the boring tax stuff done properly and nothing else. Some want us in the books every month, and some want somebody in the room when the big decisions get made. Most land somewhere in between, so we build the package around what you actually need rather than sell you a tier.

The compliance

  • Year end accounts and tax returns
  • BAS and IAS, if you want us doing them
  • Payroll, super and TPAR reporting
  • ASIC and the company housekeeping

The books

  • Ongoing bookkeeping, weekly or monthly
  • Payroll run for you
  • Xero set up properly, and training if you want it
  • Catching up a year that got away

The part that changes things

  • Tax planning in March, not after
  • Business planning and budgets
  • Coaching and accountability
  • Profit uplift sessions

Want the number for your situation? Ask us for a quote. We work it up properly from your entities, your books and what you want from us, and you get a figure in writing. If it is a bigger piece of work we may ask for a deposit to get started, and you will have a ball park before that.

Real shapes

Three businesses, three numbers

An electrician in a hard hat and high visibility jacket on site

Sparky, company, no staff

You run a company, you are GST registered, you lodge the quarterly BAS yourself, and there are no employees to worry about.

From$2,500per year

A roofer climbing a ladder to a house roof with tools

Builder, company, a few on the tools

You have a few on the tools, so there is payroll and super every week and subbies to report at year end. You still lodge the BAS yourself.

From$3,500per year

A Kenworth tanker truck driving on a tree-lined Australian highway

Transport, company and family trust

You have a company and a family trust, vehicles in the business, and distributions that have to be right before 30 June.

From$7,000per year

In every one of those we square the books up at year end, sort out whatever the year threw at you, and get the whole thing ready to lodge. What else goes in the package is up to you.

Why the range is that wide

Two roofers turning over the same money can be twice the work apart. One has a company, a trust and four staff and hands over a file that reconciles. The other is a sole trader eighteen months behind with a box of receipts. A single figure on a page either frightens off the simple job or under quotes the complicated one.

No two businesses are the same, and the goals that matter are not the same either. So we price on what is actually involved, and we aim it at what you are trying to get done rather than at a package that happens to exist.

What changes your fee

These are the things that move the number, in plain terms. If you can answer them roughly, you already know whether you are at the simple end or the complicated one.

How many entities

One sole trader is one return. A company with a family trust and a self managed fund is four sets of accounts, four returns and four sets of minutes.

How far behind the books are

A file that is reconciled to yesterday costs less to work with than eighteen months of receipts in a shoebox. This is usually the single biggest difference between two businesses the same size.

Whether you have staff

Payroll brings super, Single Touch Payroll reporting and a finalisation every July. Two staff and twenty staff are not the same job.

How often you lodge

Quarterly BAS is four times a year. Monthly is twelve.

Whether you use subbies

Paying contractors usually means a Taxable Payments Annual Report, and it means somebody has to check whether they are really contractors.

What you want from us

Compliance done properly and on time is one thing. Wanting numbers you can act on before 30 June, and somebody to talk them through with, is another.

How you get a number

Fifteen minutes with Celeste

A short call to work out what you have, what you need and whether we are the right firm for you. No cost.

We look at the actual file

Your entities, your books, your lodgements. Not a guess from a form.

A ball park, then a quote

A rough figure first so you are not guessing, then a proper quote in writing for the agreed work. On a bigger job we may ask for a deposit to get started.

It does not move

If something turns up outside what we agreed, you hear the price first. No surprise invoices.

The thing most people are actually worried about is not the fee. It is the invoice they did not expect, for a phone call they thought was included. That is the part we fix by agreeing the number up front and telling you before anything falls outside it.

Just here for an individual tax return?

That one does have a price. Individual returns start at $220, twenty minutes for a wages return and sixty if there is a business or a rental in it.

What clients say about the fee, and the rest of it

I’ve been with Business Edge for over a year and couldn’t be happier with their service. Their Proactive tax planning meeting in March meant that we were able to put things in place before the EOFY that benefited our business greatly.

Mish is great, actually explains things properly when I’ve got questions instead of just brushing me off.

Needed to have various Financial Statements produced asap, and Clayton was on to it straight away. Can’t thank him enough for the speed and excellent service he provided.

Questions before you commit

Why a range and not a price list?

Because a single figure would be wrong for most people who read it. Two roofers turning over the same money can be twice the work apart, and a number on a page either scares off the simple job or under quotes the complicated one. The range is honest about the spread, and fifteen minutes tells us where in it you sit.

So when do I actually find out what it costs?

Before you commit to anything. We look at what you have, ask what you want, and give you a fixed figure in writing. You decide after you have seen it, not before.

Is the fixed fee really fixed?

Yes, for the work we agreed. If something turns up that was not in scope, an amended return or a year of bookkeeping nobody mentioned, we tell you what it costs before we do it. You will not get an invoice you were not expecting.

What if my business changes during the year?

Tell us. Taking on staff, adding an entity or buying a property changes the work, so we re price it and you agree the new figure. It does not get backdated and it does not appear as a surprise.

Am I locked in?

No. There is no lock in contract. If it is not working you can leave, and we will pass your file across without making it difficult.

I only need an individual tax return.

Then this page is not really for you. Individual returns start at $220 and you can book straight in.
